Reward for jewellery theft

CARSELDINE: Ross Smith has posted a $500 reward for the return of an “Eye of Ra’’ pendant which was stolen on July 3 last year.
The pendant was made from jewellery belonging to Mr Smith’s late wife Irene, who died in 2001 aged 40.
Mr Smith said he had the pendant made shortly after Irene’s death, with items used including a sapphire from her engagement ring and the bands from her wedding ring.
Mr Smith said the pendant had a “priceless’’ sentimental value.
He said the pendant was stolen during one of two robberies which occurred at his house in mid-2008.
He said other items stolen included a safe, his car and a watch belonging to his father, who died when Mr Smith was a boy.
“They stole a lot of things, but the only thing that was truly irreplaceable was this pendant,’’ Mr Smith said.
Mr Smith urged anyone who had the pendant or knew of its whereabouts to return it to him.
“If they have ever loved someone as much as I loved my wife, they will know how much this hurts,’’ he said.
Anyone with information about the pendant can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
